Question:
13 year old post-op, My daughter had her surgery on Dec 4
Just want to share with the community that my 13 year old is now Post-OP. Her surgery was done on Dec 4th. She is doing exceptionally well...Thanks for all your support. — MARY R. (posted on December 5, 2000)

Mary, I am so thrilled that you were able to get medical intervention for
your daughter, even at her young age. God bless the surgeon that agreed to
help her attain a normal teenage life and into adulthood. Your guidance
along with her surgeon's post-op care will be essential for her success.
My first surgery was at age 16 - I had some complications two and a half
years later, and my Mom refused to seek out another surgeon since mine
retired. It resulted in total weight regain and misery for many years. My
revision was this April, and my current surgeon was only 45 miles away even
back then. Keep an eye out for your baby girl! I know you are elated!

is 13 too young for this surgery?
No ... it is not
I was just thinking about what a different person i might be if
i had had this surgery before all the ugly words seeped into my
soul and letting Fat ruin my life..
I would have given anything to have done this surgery at a young
age..
what a nicer kinder person we all might have been and who knows
what we could have been had it not been for Fat

Mary I wish your daughter the best has to offer and a speedy recovery,
maybe now she can grow up without all the torment we all suffered being a
"fat child" i know first hand and can say it wasn't pretty! god
