Question:
SURGERY POSTPONED PT REPORT ABNORMAL......

THIS IS THE 2ND TIME MY SURGERY HAS BEEN POSTPONED , THIS TIME MY PREOP BLOOD WORK ( PT REPORT ) DR SAID WAS ABNORMAL, WHAT IS THIS. HE SAID IT IS BECAUSE I TOOK ASPRIN YESTERDAY , SURGERY IS ONE WEEK AWAY OR WAS ANYWAYS, NOW I HAVE TO GET ANOTHER PT BLOODWORK AND SURGERY WILL NOT BE TIL AROUND THE 17TH OF NOV.....    — WENDY W. Aspirin reduces your blood's ability to clot. If your blood can't clot properly, you could bleed to death from surgery. It sounds like that's their concern. Good luck. I hope that things work out well for you.

I was told absolutely no aspirin or ibuprofen products (like Advil, Motrin) for 1 month before surgery. These products can thin the blood too much which could cause problems during surgery.

Wendy, You poor baby! I'm sorry. I am a month away and already counting every hour until surgery already! (32days, 19hrs.) I was told no aspirin or anti-inflammatories for two weeks before surgery date. I know you are dissappointed, hang in there, the 17th is still closer than 12/8! best of luck. Susan

PT or Prothrombin Time measures how quickly your blood forms clots. Aspirin is a blood thinner. You don't want to take this before any surgery.
