Question:
What are the age limits?

Hiya. I'm 55 and was 54 last December when I had an open RNY. I have heard that some docs have an upper limit of 50 or 60. I think the risks of obesity far outweigh the risks of surgery. And the benefits are marvelous. I now feel 30!! I was 400 pounds in December. On Monday I weighed in at 308. Almost everything that hurt me has stopped hurting (have one nasty arthritic knee, but even that has improved). Good luck. It's a great ride Susan [email protected]

My aunt and her sister had the same or a similar procedure to mine. They are in their forties, and did not hesitate. I'd talk it over with your doctor. My surgeon says that patients are usually between 16 and 65. Hope that helps.

I had my surgery at age 50. I did fine and would recommend surgery to anyone who is obese and wants to get more out of the latter part of their lives.
