Question:
What if you have a January date and Insurance cancels WLS in 2005

I have a January surgery date but my insurance will no longer carry WLS in 2005. Will I still get my surgery??    — Special K (posted on October 22, 2004)

Hi,,,Did you consider asking if your surgery could be moved to a closer day? Explain to them your situation. Tanya

I don't think so. You need to discuss this with the surgeon's office and see if they can move you into 2004 OR find a surgeon who can. Sandra

I know that we have two different insurance policies. I have BCBS of Al and in my approval letter there was a disclosure stating " Benefits of covered services will be provided according to the patient's eligibility, terms and conditions of the contract in effect at the time the service is rendered." I know the reason they put that in there is because at the beginning of the year my husband policy will change and it will ne BCBS, blue option. From what I hear the policy doesn't cover as much. You may want to just ask your insurance company. Good Luck!!!!!

I ran into the same thing this past January when my insurance stopped covering wls. Since I was approved prior to January of 04 my surgeons office got an extension. I had surgery in April. Good Luck!!
