Question:
Today I ate two bites and it came back mixed with blood

and spit up blood several times afterwards.I am 3 months postop and have been eatting fairly well the past few days. Up until today. My stools arent black and tarry.Ive tried to eat some soup this evening but it didnt go down either.Can it be that the force of the gagging caused the blood? I dont hurt anywhere or feel bad but this was more blood than food that came back up.    — loisph (posted on December 28, 2003)

Spitting up blood does not sound good, call your doctors office right away.

Lois, the black tarry stool is a sign that there is blood in your GI tract. Call your PCP or surgeon - NOW!!!!! No matter what the hour, make sure you get the doctor on call if nothing else. Report the symptoms exactly. DO NOT PUT THIS OFF. dina

i have an ulcer, at least i assume i do it is much like i use to have prior to surgery from time to time. i throw up blood and lots of it, and pass it in my stools black tarry and it bleeds into the water like flea poop from a doggie! it is vile! i take drugs to help and so far am doing okay if it gets much worse i'l go into the dr. i do not get too excited over some blood.
