Question:
Can a large hernia cause violent diarrhea?

I have a very large incisional hernia that will be repaired once my weight has stabilized (9 months post op). The first 6 months post op (open RNY) I had no major bowel problems except the normal post op constipation.....for the last 3 months ever 2 or 3 days I get violent diarrhea once a day, and then I am fine, no pains or stomach ache.....does this somehow relate to the hernia?? Anyone else who cannot find an explaination for their diarrhea ( I can't be certain of the time frame of when I got the hernia)Thanks    — Linda 1. (posted on July 31, 2003)

I also have an incisional hernia, which just developed in the past month. Last week I had a similar experience with diarrhea for two days but I figured it was becuase I had eaten 1/2 turkey reuben both days before and the saurkraut was the problem. I haven't had any other problems since.

i am just a lay person but i do not seewhere the lineing of your abdomin causing the hernia could possibly have anything to do with the internal guts where the diarreah comes from, i would say it is something you ate.
