Question:
wls friendly pcp in atlanta area needed desparately!!!!

hi. i have a friend who keeps going from pcp to pcp only to be told they do not support wls and will not write a letter of recommendation. my friend is close to 400 pounds and 5'2. she is close to giving up. she has aetna but at this point, paying out of network for a friendly pcp will be worth it. she is so tired of docters being rude and mean to her b/c of her weight. she told me the other day that she is just going to die fat and i cried. any help will be appreciated. i believe she lives off roswell rd, if that helps as far as which part of atlanta. i live out of state but had my surgery in GA so i am no help in this department. i will be calling around to wls docs in town and asking for referrals as well. thanks for listening/responding jen    — Jennifer S. Hi Jennifer. I am sorry to hear that your friend is having such a difficult time. I live 25 miles south of Atlanta in a town called Newnan, GA off of interstate 85. I am currently waiting on surgery (scheduled 6/25/03). My pcp wasn't to keen on my having the surgery but he did support me in my decision. I would not reccomend him for wls but I would for any other reason; however I do know of a doctor here that is supportive of this surgery and her name is Dr. Danforth. If your friend would be interested please feel free to email me. I will be having my surgery with Dr. Titus Duncan who is a well known surgeon in Atlanta. He is on Good Day Atlanta every Thursday morning at 8'ish. Please tell your friend "Good Luck"

have her call the surgeon and ask for names of PCP's that support weight loss surgery. That may be the easiest way. She needs to see an Aetna MD, becasue a referral from a non-Aetna pcp may not be accepted by Aetna.

My PCP is Jeffry Tharp, in Dallas, GA. It's about 20 minutes from the "Big Chicken" on Roswell Rd.in Marietta. He's an Aetna doctor and is thrilled with my result. I'm sure he would be more than happy to help out and I just love him as my whole family's regular doctor! Even my husband likes him and he's a hard sell on doctors. Here is is phone number: 678-945-8200.

My PCP is Dr Lisa Crisp. She is wonderful. She is in Suwanee, not too far from the Ga 400 Old Milton Parkway exit. It's a little drive, but I live off of Roswell Rd too and it's not so bad.
