Question:
Anyone need more than a psych eval from their psychiatrist?

I got a copy of a letter today requesting office notes from my psychiatrist. This ain't gonna happen! It would appear the surgeon's office did not include my psych eval in the info they sent to BC/BS. If so, then this should be easy to resolve by getting it faxed to them. However, the request for office notes was sent directly to my psychiatrist which leads me to believe they do have the eval and still want to see notes - otherwise how would they know who to send it to? As far as I am concerned it's none of their damn business about the details of my treatment. Who are they to question this professionals judgement. Just because I have diagnosed depression sure should not prevent me from getting surgery, especially since it has been under great control with medication for over 2 years. I'll find out more details on Monday and I hope I can get this resolved right away. I've never heard of an insurance company asking for more than a psych eval have any of you?    — zoedogcbr (posted on December 28, 2002)

Thanks for you post Lisa. I found out that it's the nurse who gathers all of the info and prepares the file for the consultant to review that was requesting the psychiatrist's notes, just because she thought they were needed. She could not give any specifics as to what was missing. So they agreed to forward my stuff onto the consultant and we will see then if they are still needed. They still won't get them but if they tell me what needs to be address I will have my doctor do that.
