Question:
Does Dr. Duncan (Atlanta) do lap with BMI 50+

Good afternoon, Has anyone have any experinece with Dr. Duncan in Atlanta and has a BMI over 50? I am just concern that he wouldn't see me because my bmi is so high. Thanks, Vesta    — vesta D. (posted on November 15, 2002)

I am a paitient of Dr. Duncan's. My surgery was on 10/1/02. Dr. Duncan does do surgery on patients with a high BMI.

I also had my surgery with Dr. Duncan he does do lap with high BMI's. My friends son had it done and he was 450lbs. I know a lot of his patients are very large. I don't see this being a problem for him. Great DR., long wait.

I went to my consult last month, and what they told us is that he won't do surgery for anyone in the high 50's.. and that he won't do it until you get to a 55 at the most. I was a 56 and I was told that I had to get to a 55.. or they would cancel the surgery until I got there..

Check with Dr. J.K. Champion. There has been patients that he has done that weighed around 600 lbs. If interested, just call his office and ask...770-425-5525, option #5 for the nurse. NOTE: It would help though to try to lose a little therby making complications of healing, infection, breathing, etc., a little less.
