Question:
Won my appeal, need to schedule w/surgeon in the morning... WHY AM I SO SCARED??

This is crazy but I've been working hard on my appeal, and it has been almost one full year from my first pre-cert appointment... now I get the letter in the mail that says my LAP RNY is a go and I feel like I want to pass out. My Mom has been so supportive in my insurance battle and is totally confused by my fear to set a date!!! I am 24 years old, no co-morbidities other than losing my gallbladder young--and all of the sudden think I'm going to die... am I crazy??? I'm so sorry if this sounds whiney... Ok an update.. I actually called and my date will be confimed next week for the second week of January... I had to force myself to call.. will I be crazy like this until January?

I wish I could hug you! I had to keep telling my friends...I am sorry it is all about me right now, because I was so frightoned. Even though I had been desperatly making it happen for six months. YOU WILL DO FINE! There is some discomfort, but nothing you can't handel. I didn't cry untill they told me they had to put the breathing tube in when I was awake. Than all my fears came out in tears. an older Doctor came by and said lets give her some happy juice to stop the tears! Than I just let it happen. The hospital had great people who treated me great and my mom took care of me for the next week. Sleep lots and you will be THIN soon. I hope this helped, Good luck

I was convinced that I was going to die. I was surprised when I woke up after the surgery. I thought a lot about this and my problem was that I didn't, deep, deep, deep down believe that I deserved to have this surgery. That old, ugly low self-esteem monster raising its ugly head again!! Your reason may be different than mine, but I tell you, I'm soooooo glad I went ahead and did it. You just might be, too. Good luck. E-mail me if I can help!
