Question:
Almost 6 months post-op and have pain beneath the pouch area

I have a constant, sometimes sharp and searing pain beneath my pouch area. This pain has been there since a couple of months after surgery/gallbladder removal, but is now bothering me more. My weight loss is almost at a standstill and I'm only halfway to my goal. Does anyone know what this might be? I have dr's visit scheduled..but not until about 4 weeks from now when my new insurance goes into effect. Does this sound like a staple line disruption?    — Jennifer C (posted on September 1, 2002)

I would be more concerend about ulcers. Can you call your surgeon and discuss this and see what he says??

YOU HAVE ALOT OF INTERNAL SCARRING AND IT WILL TAKE YOUR BODY A LONG TIME TO ADAPT TO IT. THERE'S AN OUTSIDE CHANCE OF AN INFECTION. CALL YOU DR AND TALK TO THEM. YOUR BODY LOSES ALOT OF WEIGHT INITIALLY BECAUSE IT'S NOT USE TO THE SMALL INTAKE OF FOOD, BUT IT WILL AND YOUR METABOLISM WILL ADJUST TO IT. I LOST ALOT FOR 6 MONTHS THEN VERY LITTLE AND THAT WAS THE EXPLANATION MY DR GAVE ME. PEACE, BRIAN

What is the pain like? Muscle Pain? Mule kicked you in the gut? Heartburn? Spasms? Staple line disruption does not usually include pain, but for some of us, yes, there is pain. I had more pain than wt gain, lucky for me. But still, it did require a fix. Let me know if I can help.
