Hi, Linda. I have my surgery on Weds and I don't have any small children, but I am going to be on my own when I come home. My husband too works long hours. My doctor says if I do have the lap procedure, which is planned that I should be able to do all my normal activities, except lifting over 20 pounds, vaccuuming and mowing the lawn. He told my husband not to baby me. I don't know if you have to lift your children or not, I forgot how old they were, but perhaps they are big enough that they can crawl up the the couch beside you. Best of luck on your surgery. I pray it will go smoothly and you have a speedy recovery. Blessings. Carolyn

Best Wishes for a successful surgery and smooth recovery! Weigh to go! I just read another post from someone who just had surgery and the thing that hurts the most is their BACK. And it is PAINFUL, not just uncomfortable. THE LAST THING YOU NEED TO TELL YOUR SURGEON, BEFORE THEY PUT YOU UNDER, IS TO PUT SOMETHING UNDER YOUR KNEES TO TAKE THE PRESSURE OFF YOUR BACK!!! Time and time again folks are coming out of the O.R. and their back is killing them. It’s because you are lying flat on your back for hours on a hard surface. How long can you do that now? If the surgeon will just put a rolled up blanket under your knees this problem will be eliminated! Got It?... Good…. Problem solved. (Or at least talk it over with him/her).
