Beginning Stages

Hi everybody! So I am new to this website and to the Bariatric Program at Humber in Toronto. I attended an information session at HRRH- Keele St location on May 9, 2011 and obviously checked "YES" to continue with the surgery! I'm currently in the beginning stages just waiting to have appointments set up with a RN, RD, SW, MI etc. I was told it can take about 3 months for the appointments and another 3-5 months to book a surgery date. I found the information session so helpful and it made me think even harder about this whole journey and I have come to appreciate it more as it becomes more real. At first I thought this was too good to be true because I have battled with my weight all of my life. I'm turning 26 this year so I thought why not do this for myself and make the lifestyle changes I need to so I can be healthy for another 26+ years! My current weight right now is 270lbs; the highest I've been. I'm 5'4 with a BMI over 45 plus HTN and GERD. I'm too young to feel like I'm MUCH older! I know this surgery isn't a miracle or quick fix but it will definitely be a beneficial tool in my weight loss journey and I can't wait for it all to happen. Like I said before, I'm new to this website so I am figuring out how to navigate around it but feel free to contact me! It'd be nice to talk to other people who have gone through this process :) Take care!
