Surgery + 7 weeks
Sep 07, 2012
Hello all!
Well I had the gastric bypass done on 7/20/2012. Everything went smothly thanks to the support of my friends and especially my best friend who stayes with me all week to make sure everything went well while I was home. I had a little trouble when I was home (dizziness) but it was becasue I was not taking in enough protein. I have since went ahead and spent the $ on the protein shakes i know I like (Pure Protein-35 grams if protein, 2 grams of carbs). I paid $33 for 12 cans thru amazon. I have tried other ways to take in Protain and its just not happening so I am going to stick with this for a while. I am surprisingly doing really well taking in my vitamins (multi-vitamin, iron, B12). I was prescribed Vitamin D as I was deficient when I was released from the hospital. I was also diagnosed with H Pylori (stomach bacteria) and had to do a 14 day treatment (4 pills in the morning, 4 pills at night) it was awful! I completed that a couple of days ago.
About the actual weight loss, I havent lost as much as I thought I'd lose but I am losing so I will celebrate that. My highest weight has been 275; my consultation weight was 249; before I started my liquid diet I was 259 (gained 10lbs "going-out-with-a-bang"; surgery weight was 244 and today I am officially 7 weeks post-op and I am down to 222. I started working out about a month ago. I started with 4 times a week doing 3 miles on the eliptical machine and these last two weeks I've been going 6 times a week doing 5 miles on the eliptical machine. Everyone tells me they see the change..and I do to but I dont understand why the scale is having a hard time changing too! I've obsessively been checking my weight every morning and every night and am usually disappointed. But, regardless, I am going to keep doing my part! I have to keep reminding myseld that my clothes ARE getting looser, and that I am ONLY 7 weeks out. I have to be patient.
