Pre Op and Pre Reg completed

Aug 23, 2010

I had my pre op with the nutritionist, Dr. Hart, and Dr. Garrett (anesthesiologist) today.  Dr. Garrett was the anesthesiologist for my mom's recent neck surgery and for my aunt's neck surgery a year ago.  I am really comfortable with him and I am really glad that he will be on board.  I am a chicken when it comes to surgery and I am deathly afraid of being nauseated or throwing up.  Dr. Garrett said that he is taking the "kitchen sink" approach to prophylactic nausea treatment with me!  He also knows I am a chicken, so as soon as I get to pre op, he has ordered Valium already.  I think he is my new favorite person.

I feel a lot better about the post op diet since meeting with Melissa today.  She went over the diet for the first six weeks.  I will see her again at six weeks out.  She said she expects us to be down 20 to  40 pounds in six weeks!  Amazing!  I was a little nervous about the protein shakes because I am allergic to aspartame, but the Bariatric Advantage brand uses sucralose and not aspartame, so I have just ordered a sample of each flavor to try.

Dr. Hart is a very serious man.  I like him though.  He's not a warm fuzzy person, but he knows his stuff and you can tell he cares.  He is just all business.  He seemed very confident that all would go well.

Surgery is on Friday, so here we go on my journey to be the incredible shrinking woman!
