feedback from peeps here

Feb 09, 2010

Feedback from folks here at OH is that I may have a kind of "reactive" hyper-calcium and should increase my calcium and D supps considerably and I may actually see my calcium serum levels *drop* (and that my D should be around 80 or so, not the within the 20-60 range considered "normal" by my hospitals' lab).

fortunately this coincides with me finding a job, at least temporarily, so i can afford more vitamins.

also reviewing my last batch of labs, which came in the mail the afternoon of the morning that i just saw the 2nd endocrinologist (from my apponitment with my bariatric nut in January), my iron level is low-normal, and my transferrin and TIBC are over normal limits, and my RDW is high for the 8th consecutive month in a row, all of which are indicators of iron-deficient anemia.  accompanied by a cheery note saying all my values are fine and not to be concerned about the ones out of range.

*trashes the note*

so... up to now i haven't supplemented iron, i told the NP i wanted to see how my ranges were post-op because if my iron gets too high, it can trigger another condition that i have which is a bad thing.  But, that doesn't mean i want it LOW... just not high.  So i guess it's time for me supplement my iron in spite of what my bariatric NP thinks 'bout what levels are ok and what are not.

i think i will probably get some "tender iron" since i've had problems with constipation off and on.
