Day one

Today is the first day of a new journey for my husband and I.  We had surgery yesterday together.  The two weeks prep prior to the surgery was much less difficult than I thought.  We lost 22 and 13lbs during that time, that was alot of marbles to drop in the bucket at the doctor.  I was impressed with the symbolism of the marbles, our weight gain was a gradual, thing.  Some of it based on celebrations, mourning, anger, fear and sometimes for no reason at all.  I suspect the most difficult part of this journey will be to recognize that food that was our source of comfort and anesthetic is now only going to be what it was intended for...nutrition.  I know we are not the only ones with this struggle.  I may need help along the way.
