It's been a long time

Apr 29, 2013

It has been a very long time since I wrote a blog post on here. In fact, for several years I didnt even log in once. Well, in 2011 I started the HCG diet. I lost 35 lbs and was down to 209 at my lowest. I was just about to start round 2 of the diet and found out I was pregnant! What a shocker that was. Well, I gained 65 lbs in my pregnancy and delivered weigh 275 lbs!! I did not eat as well as I would have liked during pregnancy (obviously I didnt gain 65 lbs eating healthy) so needless to say I have had a real hard time losing the weight. I breastfed. Everyone says the weight melts off while breastfeeding. NOT! I breastfed for 14 months and lost 25 lbs. I was even going to Zumba and watching what I ate for the most part. Not fair I didnt lose all my weight. Well, here I am 16 (almost 17) months post delivery and I weigh 260 lbs. I am disgusted with myself. I decided in January that I was going to go explore my lapband options. I posted in the lapband forum about my thoughts and was basically told I needed to have the sleeve done. So I looked into the sleeve. I had never even heard of it before. I thought my options were band or bypass. I feel in love with the sleeve idea right away! I had an appointment end of January for a surgery consult. The patient liaison had had gastric bypass and he was a very large man with large children. Also, the place was not very "nice" and they really pushed me into the whole process of getting the surgery going. Huge turn off and it scared the crap out of me. I called my insurance and got a new referral to Dr LaPorts office. Well, now I am in love. I feel at home, I feel so comfortable there! I do not see the Dr as much as I would like to before surgery, but at the Dr talk last week I understand why now and it works for me.

As of today, I have done my support group, Dr talk, nutrition class requirements. Tomorrow I have a Dr appointment to get lab work orders (I am missing 1 test from my blood work in Feb), an updated pap (I am not due until May but insurance is requiring it now), a note saying I have exercised for 6 months, a note that I am not a drug or alcohol abuser. I am hoping that my primary can clear me for cardiac and pulmonary but I am not sure he will be able to. I have an appointment Wednesday night for my psych eval. My surgeons office will have all paperwork written up and ready to send to insurance on Friday. All that will be missing will be the cardiac and pulmonary clearances if my primary cannot do them.

Insurance approval is 2 weeks turn around and right now there is 0 wait at the surgeons office!!! Which means my goal of doing surgery by June 3rd is looking like a reality! Fingers crossed!! I am calling my primary today to see if they can do the clearances for me or get me a referral today so I can try to get appointments this week!!
