I bought pure protein shakes today. Tried a chocolate one & I like it a lot BUT it says it has 1g of sugar... Is that bad?

I was sleeved 9 weeks ago. At the beginning I was also concerned because I always was hungry. My doctor told me that is normal for the first few months until your brain and body get used to the changes. I was told to eat about every 3 hours. Lots of high protein, no sugar and lots of fluids. I find that as I progress I am not as hungry all the time anymore.  I over ate once. I never had the tightness in my chest but my stomach hurt for several hours. If you over aet you will know it. It doesn't feel very good. I am down 35 pounds os far and I am feeling great.

Very normal- try not to worry.  You will likely not feel your restriction until you are able to eat dense protein- then you will be shocked, and in a good way.  The liquid/full liquid goes through the stomach pretty fast.  Addiionally, stomach acid can mimic hunger.  If you are not on an acid reducer check with your doc to see if it is something that may help.  I had horrible reflux prior to surgery, but no heart burn after.  I do have periods though where acid is an issue, so I take something and after a week or so it goes away.  During the acid times I feel hunger most of the day.

Also, the nerves in your stomach have been severed and will be unable to register that full feeling like you are used to.  This is why it is so critical to weigh and measure- to prevent you from accidentally overeating and putting stress on the suture lines.

Thank you for responding! I wasn't thinking about the nerves in my stomach being severed. And it totally makes sense. Thank you! : )

My hunger decreases a lot after 4 weeks. Also I didn't start feeling a full feeling until after 6 weeks. Good luck
