Wow, I didn't think we were allowed to eat solid beef - not ground beef - until about six months out.  I'm glad to hear you guys are not having any problems with it.  :-)

2nd month out steak was fine.  when you reheat, do not reheat in microwave.  use the oven, or toaster oven and moisten with sauce.

No problem at all with steak as of about four months out if memory serves me right.

I was allowed beef and pork three months post op.  I started eating it at that time, and had no trouble with it.  I, of course, took small bites and chewed carefully, but I actually find steak easier than chicken on my stomach.

best wishes,

Carol

I had steak at about six weeks and have never had any problems with it.  I really like it with a bit of guacamole to soften things up.

Wow guys, I'm so glad no one on this thread has had any problems with it - so far at least.

Steak is my favorite, along with Mexican food, but I'm not sure how Mexican food will be for me later on, so we'll see.

Thanks guys!  :-)

I had some filet at around a month or so out. When my wife was going through this a number of years ago and was having problems tolerating ground beef, the surgeon suggested filet, with his experience being that many find it more easily digestible than ground beef.

One the Mexican food front, there is a lot there that can be VSG friendly. Chipotle soft taco (leaving the tortilla behind at that stage,) was my first fast-ish food post op, and I had a Mexican restaurant meal fairly early as well - had the filling of an enchilada and a bit of the rice and beans with it, though fajitas took over as a more typical meal at those places (makes for convenient leftovers!)

Good to know, thank you!

I wonder if we can eventually change over to whole-wheat, gluten-free soft tortilla shells for things like tacos or fajitas, maybe that's a possibility.
