I buy pre-marinated meats from Trader Joe's, they have TONS of great options! Some of my faves are lemon garlic pork loin, Korean short ribs, southwest tri-tip, and curry chicken tenders. Open the package, dump it in the IP, and go!

Now you are encouraging me to drive up the road. I normally go to aldi but "everything but the bagel" and the salmon jerky at TJ's are ....worth the trip!

  • I have a stovetop pressure cooker, and an electronic one as well. Love them both. Is Instant Pot different from a regular electronic pressure cooker in any significant way?

The amount of pressure is lower than a stove top..you may have to cook a bit longer.

The instant pot doesnt always line up with a slow cooker either. Like I have read other forums that say HIGH on an IP is like medium or low compared to a crockpot. OR-it could be the people complaining didnt have the 1 cup water in the food necessary to get it up to temp. This is bad for thick sauced things like pot roast and stew as that 1 cup water can really water things down.

I was scared...so I made a pot roast in the slow cooker instead. However, I did the extra veggies in the IP. I added the 1 cup water and things cooked normally but the sauce was not as concentrated. Next time I will be brave and try the thick sauce (made primarily from veggie oil) in the IP without the water.

Thanks for the info! I love my pressure cookers, they are real time savers (when I actually cook)! I also really like my slow cookers. I just bought an air fryer - haven't tried it yet. Between those plus a convection oven, toaster oven, microwave of course, Vitamix and Kitchenaid stand mixer, I am about full to here (holding hand at eye level) with kitchen gadgetry! I think I have to pass on the Instant Pot if only because I really have no more room!
