HI Shauna- my surgery is 3 weeks from today.  Your post is VERY encouraging because I'm hoping for that.  So you are already eating meats at 4 weeks?  That's terrific!  Are you careful about not drinking 30 min prior or after eating?  Thank you! Mary

RNYs can drink fluid right up to the moment before the 1st bite, then not again until 30 minutes after the final bite.

I'm 6 week post op RNY and so far I can eat anything.  Eggs, turkey, hamburger, tilapia, tuna, shrimp, chicken, pork tenderloin, smoked pork ribs (no sweet sauce), ham, sausage - I just haven't tried steak or roast beef yet.  I tried a sip of diet soda - didn't like how full it made me feel at all!  I have been concentrating on my food by eating slowly and chewing well and trying to remember to enjoy it.  I haven't vomited anything nor have I had 'the foamies'.  My worst experience was forgetting to sip and that hurt my pouch!  Well, and then there was the Easter Candy Incident where I found out that dumping is no joke.

I can eat anything I put in my mouth with no issues. I wish I dumped. Sometimes I'd like the kick in the ass to keep me away from things. I got foamies in the very beginning from eating too dry or too fast, but that went away by about 6 mos. Now- nothing....

Well, March 16th must have been a good surgery date!   I also had my RNY on 3/16/16.  I do not have any troubles with food at all. Most everything goes down well, provided I chew it up good...and only twice I have taken another bite without waiting to feel the full, and my mouth was watering like I was going to puke.  Ew.  That was awful....but live and learn.

Hello, I am six week out and never had a problem at all - and I try a lot of different foods right now.

I am even worried, that I can eat too much - so I always weigh everything and make sure that no meal exceeds 150 gr of food!!!!

Sometimes I even feel hungry!

And of course I think I should loose more weight....

Honestly I thought of calling my doctor to ask if he really did an RNY......

I am like you: I even worry if everything goes well.....

Wow some of you ppl in this thread are so lucky. It really depends. I am 6 months out and there are still certain foods that I stay away from. Each stage seemed to bring new challenges to me but every one is different.

You are following directions - things should go well!!!

You never know how you will loose - just be 100% compliant with your instructions and think of it as a science experiment.  Good luck.
