The home scales and a couple other tests all use electrical impedance, so even something like humidity, swest, or how well hydrated you are can throw them off. But like Laura said, the scale is ok for comparison. If it is consistently higher or lower two months from now, you know you've gon up or down -- you just won't be sure of the actual numbers.

Calipers and even bod pod can be off, because even the best of us have hanging skin. That extra volume screws those methods up. Also, as morbidly obese people we developed heavier bones, organs, everything, to support ourselves. That also makes us different, and throws those other methods off.

It seems like the DEXA scan is best for us, because it really examines us through-and-through, and you can get an accurate body composition, not just a fat analysis. We should have the basic version of a DEXA scan, the one that checks just bone density, every two years to see how our bones are holding up.

Also, from seeing the picture you recently posted, I would have guessed you were about 25% bodyfat. To my eye, women look best at about 25%, and men around 15%. (There are differences, you know).

I agree with you so much.  Women do look nice at around 25% but my husband looks amazing at 17%.  He's a hottie.

Yeah my Aria Scale that's linked to my FITBIT tells me I'm at 42% BMI (and it hasn't changed while I lost the last 50 lbs), but my Drs fancy one reads my BMI #'s at 30% down from the 40% BMI I started at 3 mths ago.  So I don't even pay attn. to that part of my scale anymore, just the weight.

I'm Jo   HW 245, SW 236, CW 151 Yeah (Normal BMI!!!!)

M1=213 (-23), M2=201 (-12), M3=186 (-15), M4=175(-11), M5=166(-9), M6=157(-9), M7=153(-4)
