There wasn't a support group in my area either, so I started my own. Maybe something to consider :)

I've actually considered it, but I don't know how I would get started. I don't have any friends or family here who have had wls. How did you get yours started?

Well, I had surgery 9 1/2 years ago, so I've had a while to gather a network of people. lol

That aside - I mainly post on the "Ontario Canada" forum here on Obesity Help. We have a really active forum and patients from all over the province (like a "state" lol) participate there, so it's been really easy to get people together. Have you checked out the AZ forum here? Not sure if anyone posts on it, but it would be worth a try to see if there's anyone in your area who might be interested in meeting for coffee, etc.

Aside from connections here, I put out the word through my family doctor and the employee health services unit at my work. Word travels and you may be surprised how many people are in your area and interested. :)

That is an extremely fabulous event idea. I'm 10 years out next March too - my gawd, where has the time gone?! You've got me thinking - thank you.

Go shopping!  Just going from the plus sized section to the smaller sizes is cool..... You will still be wanting yo go to the bigger section!

Congratulations on your weight loss  Do something for "YOU"!  Remember on this journey we are like butterflies!  Think of something you have not done for yourself and do it.  Be sure and let us know what you decided.
